Computer science is one of the most in demand jobs available in today’s market. Technology is forever advancing and businesses need people to take care of their operations and IT department. Many jobs exist in the computer science field that you can apply for, including software engineer, engineering management, operations, IT, QA/ testing engineer, and many others. However, have you ever felt like you needed more? Maybe, perhaps you feel more rewards come from a computer science teaching job, rather than working in the field.

In order to obtain a computer science-teaching job you need to know where to look. With any job, you can find many possibilities online. Many companies and universities offer teaching jobs online. It is the fastest easiest way to determine who is currently hiring and what qualifications they are looking for. When you sign on to a teaching job, especially at the university level, you should make sure your experiments or goals would be realized. Often teachers at the college and university level have their own work, publications, experiments and such that fills up the rest of their time when they are not in a class teaching or grading papers.

 

You may find the rewards are better being a teacher than holding a computer science job with a company. The pay is not always as great, but you have the chance to work with grants and some of the best equipment depending upon which school you apply to and accept. Some Universities out there include the Institute of Technology, and CalPoly. There are of course several others.

 

It is important to note the qualifications the computer science teaching job will require. Most companies including universities will not even look at your application if you do not have the right qualifications. Some jobs require that you have your doctorate in computer science while others may be a more entry-level position requiring a master’s degree.

 

You other possibility can be an adjunct faculty position so you still have the rewards of teaching classes, but you also have a job with a major company where you can use all of your education. Teaching is one of the most worthwhile professions because you have a chance to shape the next generation as well as impart some of your knowledge to others.
